Selling some posters + writing some articles = I'm BROKE!

I am B-R-O-K-E! I've been picking up a day extra here and there at work when I can, but it's not enough. I am overwhelmed with bills and they are only going to continue to grow (I do have several trips coming up...and the holidays are quickly approaching! Yikes!). I need more income. What more can I do?

For one thing, I can get off of my butt...er, or rather SIT on my butt and write some articles for cash. I just sent in my first article last week. It is the long talked about piece on unusual places to stay in California, based on some of my travels. I had planned this as far back as 2015 -- and I was going to try to write off some of those trips on my taxes, but I didn't get around to writing it until now. It didn't come out so hot---but it's done and in and should be published eventually. I should get paid for it.

I have a couple of other ideas up my sleeve. The next one will probably be on forgotten tourist attractions in Southern California (for which, I am heading back to LA in a few weeks to catch two of them myself.Could this be another possible tax write off? Hmm). I have an alternative travel plan for those visiting Las Vegas---but, after the recent tragedy there, I may have to wait on it. Basically, it is this big loop you can make from Vegas that goes around the Area 51 area---just like I took. You have Area 51 stuff on the eastern side and old ghost town stuff on the western side of the loop.

Finally, and the one I am most excited about, is a tiki road trip. Since Fresno is devoid of all things tiki, where do tikiphiles go to get their tiki fix? I've been contacting valley tiki freaks to see what they say. I also have contacted Humuhumu (web hostess of Critiki.com) about the article as well. To the north, the closest tiki we have is in Modesto. To the south, there is one in Bakersfield. West there are some smaller things at the coast. Beyond that, there is some great tiki stuff in LA and in the Bay Area. I'll talk about those and possibly home tiki bars as well. That should be fun but is a totally spring/summer-type of article...so on the back burner it goes.

Recently I sent a bunch of my posters to auction. EMovieposter.com is holding its annual Halloween auction event. I had been meaning to go through my posters and weed them out to auction off---I just never got around to it. Then I read that eMovie's Halloween auction deadline was approaching and I just grabbed a bunch of stuff and sent it off.

I had decided to get rid of most of my foreign stuff (I may regret giving up the Spanish versions of  NIGHT OF THE BLOODY APES and THE HOWLING and, possibly, the French SON OF FRANKENSTEIN--all shown below) and the stuff I came across quickly went in the box. Some stuff I had doubles of and I HOPE I kept the better copies. I know I have framed copies of KONGA, the I DRINK YOUR BLOOD/I EAT YOUR SKIN and BILLY THE KID VS DRACULA/JESSE JAMES MEETS FRANKENSTEIN'S DAUGHTER combos and ANDY WARHOL'S DRACULA already...but not sure about everything else.

I heard back from eMovie and on 3 items (all one sheets) will be in the Halloween auction. The other items will be sold down the line some time. Swell. I NEED the money yesterday. Since I was told that one sheets made the auction, that excludes the foreign posters and the smaller marquee things. My official guess as to what made it in are: BILLY THE KID VS DRACULA/JESSE JAMES MEETS FRANKENSTEIN'S DAUGHTER combo, the I DRINK YOUR BLOOD/I EAT YOUR SKIN combo and KONGA. We'll see as the auctions happen.

I'll edit in the final prices after the fact, but I also have a LOT more posters to go through and sell off.

Here's a look at the first batch I sent. I'll send more eventually and there will be those I'll have to sell myself on eBay. Blah. Here's what I am parting with:

If you weren't such a lazy, good-for-nothing asshole, you wouldn't be "broke." Have a lovely day...

Darling, just because I don’t lay on my back and let any and everyone do whatever they like for the handfuls of spare change they leave on your dresser, does not mean I’m lazy. It simply means you’re a tramp (and a cheap one, at that. But then, at your advanced age and well-worn condition, you’re lucky to get any “business “ at all. Cheers
