FLASHBACK-- Palm Springs 2016 The Conclusion

The final section of my email saga about my 2016 trip to Palm Springs:

That last day, Thursday, was hardly anything at all. We went to a late breakfast at Sherman's deli.

Not long after that, I had to hit the road and headed home. I stopped not far from Palm Springs and took pictures of the Cabazon Dinosaurs (just for you). I did not go in them as I had been there back in 2013. You can go inside of the brontosaurus (see the door in its tail). It's stomach is a big gift shop. You can also go inside of the T-Rex and look out of it's mouth. These dinos were featured in the movie "PEE WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE". The man who made them had created them to draw business to his diner (now closed/deserted). He died and the dinos were sold to some nutty religious group who created a park around them. You have to pay to get in (if you want to go in the T-Rex). There are other dinos in their little park--some of them move. But what makes the religious owners nutty is that they believe in creationism--not evolution. They also believe dinosaurs and man were in the same time period a la "The Flintstones".  Whatever. There are lots of "facts" about this posted throughout the park. Ha!  Glad I got to go the one time though...

Just down from the dinosaurs (on the other side of a massive casino) is Hadley's Fruit Stand. While it's more of a glorified convenience stand today, Hadley's--among other things--is famous for it's date shakes.  This trip, I decided to actually stop and try one. Hmm. Whatever they once were they are not any more. While they were not bad, they were not fresh. The shakes are served out of a soft serve-like ice cream dispenser already made., Disappointing...

Anyway, I made it home safely after hours and hours and hours of driving.

After getting the rental car dropped off and catching a cab back home (I was unable to get an Uber for some reason) I still had to do laundry before I could get to bed and do four 12-hour shifts in a row.

I was off Tuesday, but I had a class at work that day, any way. I worked Wednesday and was finally off Thursday---and did nothing but rest up. It's Friday now and I'm still pretty exhausted from it all. It is very clear that I am no longer a 20-something who can just go-go-go and not think about it. I'm POOPED! At least this little travel tale is done. I hope it was enjoyable. Wish you had been there with us.

CHEERS!
