Alicia's Birthday

I have the best co-workers in the world. I do. And I always seem to no matter where I work. One co-worker in particular, Alicia, is very special to me. I don't know... She just totally clicked with me as soon as she started---even though she is half my age. For my birthday she really went overboard. She got me several gifts that she really did NOT need to spend her money on. But I so appreciated her for doing that.

As it turned out, her birthday is today. I'd only found this out a few days ago. but what could I do? I worked the weekend (36+ grueling hours) and the day after I was in no condition to do anything. (I literally didn't dress or leave the house. I was that exhausted...) Plus, one of my Visa's (that I was planning on shopping with) was temporarily cancelled that day because of identity theft. Someone got a hold of my card number in Alabama and made a fake card, which they were using all over. UGH!

In addition in wanting to do something to make Alicia's birthday special, I discovered that she had signed up to work a double shift that day. WHAT!?! Oh no. Life is way too short to sacrifice your "special day". I NEVER work my birthday and I always try to do something special--usually a small trip--to celebrate it. You are only dealt so many birthdays in this life. You never know when it may be your last one---so make the most of them. Don't waste them.

This morning, I jumped in the shower, threw some clothes on...and then headed out to come up with some sort of surprise for Alicia. I was clueless. I had a birthday card and a couple of gift cards...but that wasn't gonna cut it. Eventually I also scored some birthday plates and napkins, a giant birthday hat, and a bottle of Chronic Cellars' wonderful sparkling wine Spirits & Giggles. I also got a star-shaped pinata I stuffed with candy, a balloon, and a birthday cake from Eddie's Bakery. I hope she enjoyed her surprise and that I helped make her day special.

Here are some photos:

Yes, that is me photo bombing. They knew I was there and they wanted me to photo bomb. Ha!

Here is a short 30 second video of Alicia as she attacks the pinata. It doesn't end as planned, but it was amusing none the less.

And here are a few, choice action shots:

Cheers, Alicia! Happy birthday! You are AWESOME!

Hi Christa. Thank you for visiting and leaving a note. I hope she had a good day. I hate for people to have to work on their birthdays. Of course, I found out tomorrow is another co-worker's birthday and she will be at work. GROAN! I can't do this for everyone... Hmm. What do I do? We'll see what tomorrow brings. CHEERS!
