Ashley & Sai's Wedding: June 16, 2018

On June 16, 2018, Ashley McDaid married Sai Dulla at a small, private ceremony at the home of friends of theirs in El Cerrito, California.

Ashley is the one on the right below.

This is Sai having his boutonniere attached.

Ashley with her mother.

Sai with our dear friend, Ricki.

The wedding was a simple affair, done on a modest budget (Hello? This is the Bay Area. Everything is super, crazy expensive), and with only 48 guests in attendance. They pulled it off rather nicely.

The ceremony was going to be held on the back lawn. There were small blankets set out for sitting or you could chose to stand.

Soon it was time for the wedding to begin...

Here is the short, 10 minute video of the actual ceremony. Unfortunately I shot it with my phone, so it's kind of shaky. I was also kind of far back, so I didn't have the best shots--and the audio isn't always the clearest. Take a look or don't.

Afterwards, there were lots of hugs and congratulations.

Sai tried to call his family back in India, but could not get through. They did take a few selfies though to forward on to his family.

The wedding was catered by a company called Good N Plenty---like the old candy. They even wore shirts with the candy's logo all over it.

It was quite a nice spread.

Ashley made the rounds and visited with her various friends (and enjoyed the surrounding heat lamps).

A friend who sat between Ashley and I had a plate of rice the wind caught and threw all over, as someone quipped, "It's traditional to throw rice at a wedding." It was a funny, surprising moment.

Towards the end of the reception, it was time to toast the bride and groom. Instead of wedding cake, there were fresh churros with champagne.

Ashley's brother made a speech welcoming Sai into the family.

Ashley's father also made a speech.

Before long, it was time to say goodbye. I got a few more shots of Ashley with her bouquet.

And also a few bling-bling shots of the ring.

It was a simple wedding, but that was a good thing. It allowed us to focus more on the bride and groom and less on the wedding itself.

CONGRATULATIONS ASHLEY & SAI!!!!!!

CHEERS!
